Tonight's Opposing Picther: Hiroki Kuroda

He’s new to MLB this year, so you might not know him. He seems to be off to a pretty decent start with his 3.95 ERA. BUT He seems to slowly be getting worse (generally) with each start. He won his first game and hasn’t won one since. He has only lost two however and has 4 no decisions. He’s only gone 7 innings twice and has gone less than 6 twice as well. His last start, in fact, only lasted 3 and a 1/3 innings. He did have a good start right before that one.

The Astros offense should be able to handle Kuroda. He gives up about 1 home run per game so expect Lee or Berkman to hit a bomb today. We should be able to hit him up for about 3 or 4 today, knocking him out by the seventh, I’d predict.

Dodgers get the game's first hit

And Tejada makes ANOTHER error on the next ball in play. Men on first and third with one out.

Dodgers home run

2-0 Dodgers.
Annoucners talking about how the ball carries a lot better during the day than at night. Should be good for Berkman.

Berkman

sends one to the wall in center field… not quite far enough though. :(

I saw this quote in the link...

“His stuff is great,” Yost said. “That’s not the problem. He’s throwing the ball really, really well. He’s just been beat down a little bit. He needs to take a step back and regain his confidence, make an adjustment or two and that’ll work.”

Sound familiar? Garner talking about Lidge?

by clack on May 11, 2008 3:48 PM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

He may have gotten to the point..

where he’s so worried about letting down his team and the fans that it becomes a self-fullfilling prophesy. That would explain why Lidge did well when the game wasn’t on the line and why he’s doing well now. Lidge, apparently, wasn’t able to get over that and Gagne might not be able to either.

Of course, maybe he was just juicing and isn’t anymore. :p

Chacon not doing so hot

Lead off hit for the Dodgers in the 2nd inning. Could the Chacon everyone thought we were getting in early Spring finally be here?

Over in the Cubs/Diamondbacks game.

Stephen Drew just blew a chance to blow it wide open for the D-Backs. Bases loaded, 1 out. Let’s just say he’s probably been hanging out with Chris Burke a little too much.

Cards trying a last shot rally against the Brewers...

Dammit!

Dodgers just catching everything we hit in the air. I don’t think Berkman is going to get any more hits because we seem to be so unlucky today.

chacon did well to get that last strike out..

I could understand some frustration in that inning. First, the double misplayed by Pence. Then an easy foul pop up fell between three Astros. Tejada may have dropped it because he thought he was about to be run over by Carlos Lee. Then Towles can’t go after another foul pop up because he hurt his hand.

first, throwing error on a bunt. then next guy bunts and he ttries to hard to keep the guy from bunting successfully and gives up a walk. that could be the game too, unless astros can get to the Dodgers’ closer.
