Haven't been .500...

since last May, they say one tv… wow.

True that.

O well. When I miss games this season, they’ve always scored double digits. Lets see that trend continue.

apparently mlb.tv can finally carry...

Saturday games, despite the FOX blackout. I can provide pbp if anyone would like it.

by BTastros on Apr 26, 2008 12:20 PM CDT reply actions

I don'y need PBP, but

it’d be cool if you told me if someone looks good or bad. Like horrible swings or how Roy looks.

It seems like I never get to see my boy Oswalt.

Bourn to Run!

by Jordan Sams on Apr 26, 2008 12:23 PM CDT up reply actions

Roy got a nice strike call

just barely on the outside of the plate just now for strike one against Duncan. Helped contribute to the strike out.

by entropic soul on Apr 26, 2008 12:27 PM CDT up reply actions

So I guess it's pretty clear...

that Oswalt doesn’t feel comfortable with Towles. Coop had indicated after Oswalt took his first two or three starts with Ausmus that he probably would pitch to Towles after that point. I don’t think it’s happened yet.

by BTastros on Apr 26, 2008 12:28 PM CDT reply actions

Oswalt Is Never Satisfied

with anyone but Ausmus. I remember they tried to give him Chavez, and that didn’t last (despite the fact that Chavez was a good defensive catcher and called a good game), and then Roy REALLY put up a stink about Q.

All well and good, except he’s not gonna be able to throw to Brad next year. . . . .

Let's talk about something other than Tejada

No runs in the second.

And probably no runs in the third with Ausmus, Oswalt and Bourn up…

by entropic soul on Apr 26, 2008 12:32 PM CDT reply actions

Looks like a nice expansive...

strike zone for Roy today. I’ll take it :)

by BTastros on Apr 26, 2008 12:36 PM CDT reply actions

and Roy is...

repeatedly throwing balls right up against their knees to back them up. He looks great so far.

by BTastros on Apr 26, 2008 12:39 PM CDT up reply actions

That ball...

did not hit LaRue. He just fell over.

by BTastros on Apr 26, 2008 12:40 PM CDT up reply actions

they showed the replay...

a couple of times, and I don’t think it did. The Cardinals announcers said it was “academy award material.”

by BTastros on Apr 26, 2008 12:48 PM CDT up reply actions

Bourn

will bat this inning.. if anyone needs some hitting work it’s him.

by entropic soul on Apr 26, 2008 12:42 PM CDT reply actions

Umpires issue warning to both sides

btw

Ausmus lines out. The classiest fans in baseball boo.

by entropic soul on Apr 26, 2008 12:48 PM CDT reply actions

yep!

Booing him for jogging within 20 feet of Wainwright? heh

by BTastros on Apr 26, 2008 12:49 PM CDT up reply actions

I hate that...

the warnings issued for what Wainwright did means that Oswalt has to be more cautious with the inside heat he’s been throwing.

by BTastros on Apr 26, 2008 12:51 PM CDT up reply actions

I'm glad Ausmus showed he had enough

of LaRussa’s crap. LaRussa tried the intimidation route in the last series in Houston after the Cards’ lost in the 9th. He has gone back to it again. That brought both teams out and LaRussa was trying to explain the pitch to Ausmus while Brad was held back by Cooper. I don’t think Ausmus was convinced by Tony.

by clack on Apr 26, 2008 12:51 PM CDT up reply actions

Personally...

it seems a bad move by a veteran catcher. He just cut Roy’s strike zone in half.

by TexSkins on Apr 26, 2008 12:54 PM CDT up reply actions

That probably happens....

with Ausmus doing nothing anyway. The ump likely issues a warning anyway since it was such an obvious retaliation for Oswalt hitting the Cards’ catcher. I was really disappointed tthat the Astros didn’t respond to LaRussa’s crap last time.

by clack on Apr 26, 2008 12:56 PM CDT up reply actions

JD was talking about that...

he was saying that the Astros could have had a chance to retaliate if Ausmus didn’t do anything. But once the benches cleared and all that, the ump really had no choice.

by TexSkins on Apr 26, 2008 1:00 PM CDT up reply actions

I'm not saying retaliate...

just saying that the warning gets given anyway.

by clack on Apr 26, 2008 1:08 PM CDT up reply actions

Really?

I think if Brad just looks at him like “Yeah, okay” then there would not have been a warning at all. By that I mean, not an “official” warning. The ump might have told him to be careful.

by TexSkins on Apr 26, 2008 1:11 PM CDT up reply actions

Schumaker walks...

Roy is being cautious with the inside… but he’s still pitching there. The pitch to get Ryan, more than a few to Schumaker, and the first pitch to Ankiel. Roy missed over the plate with the next one and Ankiel lines a single to right.

1st and 2nd for Pujols. 1 out.

by TexSkins on Apr 26, 2008 12:59 PM CDT reply actions

Duncan single...

1st and 3rd, 1 out.

Glaus up. Roy is leaving the fastball up and he’s getting hammered.

Glaus sacrifice.

3-1.

by TexSkins on Apr 26, 2008 1:04 PM CDT up reply actions

Bourn and Pence miscommunication...

Pence took the ball right in front of Bourn. Didn’t get anything on the throw. Duncan moved up on the play.

by TexSkins on Apr 26, 2008 1:05 PM CDT up reply actions

That piece of shit Pujols

And what the fuck is Pence doing out there?

by entropic soul on Apr 26, 2008 1:04 PM CDT reply actions

What the heck?

Pence just nearly really screwed that up, and Bourn has shown the better arm this year anyway. UGH.

by BTastros on Apr 26, 2008 1:05 PM CDT reply actions

yep, bad defensive play by pence

Pence did too much of that ball hogging as a CFer, but he has to yield to the CFer when he is playing RF.

by clack on Apr 26, 2008 1:10 PM CDT up reply actions

Hear hear

Let's talk about something other than Tejada

by rastronomicals on Apr 26, 2008 1:43 PM CDT up reply actions

The biggest problem...

is that Roy really couldn’t come in to get hitters out. He came in, but not really after he had 2 strikes.

That’s really gonna be a problem. The Cards hitters looked like they were sitting on the outside corner coming out of the dugout.

by TexSkins on Apr 26, 2008 1:09 PM CDT reply actions

Biggest problem...

in that inning is he walked a batter he shouldn’t have. Walks, especially with no or 1 out, will kill you.

by clack on Apr 26, 2008 1:15 PM CDT up reply actions

just to clarify...

don’t walk batters in front of Pujols. It forces the pitcher to have to come over the plate to AP.

by clack on Apr 26, 2008 1:26 PM CDT up reply actions

Why can't Roy

be as good as Shawny Chacon?

Bourn to Run!

by Jordan Sams on Apr 26, 2008 1:11 PM CDT reply actions

Pence seems to have been...

hitting it pretty hard right at the shortstop and 2nd baseman lately.

by BTastros on Apr 26, 2008 1:25 PM CDT reply actions

Bourn up in the next inning

Again, Bourn, please, learn to hit or bunt or something.

by entropic soul on Apr 26, 2008 1:33 PM CDT reply actions

I think its funny...

that Ausmus is public enemy #1 for Cards fans, the way Pujols is for Astros fans.

I mean, only classy fans would pick out a backup catcher on his last legs to hate this much.

by TexSkins on Apr 26, 2008 1:36 PM CDT reply actions

Glaus

puts the ball in play for the first time this series, still makes an out.

I've seen 2 mistakes by Wainwright...

and Berkman didn’t miss either one. The pitch to Matsui wasn’t that bad of a pitch. The two to Berkman were up and over the plate. Bad place to miss.

by TexSkins on Apr 26, 2008 1:55 PM CDT up reply actions

That strike zone blows

seriously. First it’s big, then it’s little. Make up your mind, dude.

Geary

And Pujols bounces into a double play.
And he deserves it for the stupid bullshit he just pulled

by entropic soul on Apr 26, 2008 2:08 PM CDT up reply actions

No kidding.

He acted his way out of 1 out and advancing the runner and into a double play :)

by BTastros on Apr 26, 2008 2:08 PM CDT up reply actions

I missed it...

what’d he do?

The Draft got me.

by TexSkins on Apr 26, 2008 2:08 PM CDT up reply actions

He swung and knocked the ball straight down, bounced next to the plate...

then the ball bounced forward fair and was an easy out at first (but Ankiel was running and would have taken second)... and then Pujols started limping acting like it hit him in the leg for a foul ball. Ump called it foul.

by BTastros on Apr 26, 2008 2:10 PM CDT up reply actions

He hit the ball right on the plate

or something to that affect and pretended it hit him in the leg so the ball wasn’t in play.

Exactly what I was thinking. Why do we have to deal with all this acting shit?

At least this one worked out in our favor.

by BTastros on Apr 26, 2008 2:12 PM CDT up reply actions

Haha...

To Pujols – What is your favorite curse word? Brad Lidge.

What is your favorite sound? The sound of a silent stadium and the crunching of my feet as I round the bases.

What profession other than your own would you like to try? Astros closer.

by TexSkins on Apr 26, 2008 2:12 PM CDT up reply actions

Don't forget LaRue

I’m not even convinced it got his jersey. Can’t blame him for taking the base that was given him, but whoever called for the retaliation is a complete and total dillhole.

75% of the Earth's surface is covered by water. . . the other 25% by Michael Bourn

by Danyah on Apr 26, 2008 4:13 PM CDT up reply actions

He was play acting on a fair ball

in front of the plate, in order to get it ruled fair. He hobbled around like it hit his foot, but replay shows “no way.”

by clack on Apr 26, 2008 2:11 PM CDT up reply actions

No boos for Ausmus...

apparently the fans gave up. Or they forgot.

Or, they realized it was Brad fucking Ausmus and got over themselves.

by TexSkins on Apr 26, 2008 2:11 PM CDT reply actions

Strike zone grows by a few feet

for Bourn’s at bat.
That’s a called strike three about a foot off the plate.

by entropic soul on Apr 26, 2008 2:15 PM CDT reply actions

We should play

“Which bullpen pitcher gives up the lead?”

I have Villareal

by entropic soul on Apr 26, 2008 2:16 PM CDT reply actions

so you automatically lose.

I’ll take Franklin.

Now That You Mention It

They booed Izzy last night, too.

Now, I’m on record as thinking the guy is way overrated, but, still, he’s done the Cards OK and should get a pass . . . at least from the Cards fans

3-3. Matsui, Tejada, Berkman. About as good as you can draw the thing up.

by TexSkins on Apr 26, 2008 2:23 PM CDT reply actions

Why is Wainwright still in?

He’s at how many pitches? Over 100?

by TexSkins on Apr 26, 2008 2:31 PM CDT reply actions

well...

when the umpire has your strike zone extending a foot to either side of the plate, it’s hard to get pulled.

by BTastros on Apr 26, 2008 2:32 PM CDT up reply actions

Walks Lee...

Pence up. Wainwright still your guy?

by TexSkins on Apr 26, 2008 2:34 PM CDT up reply actions

Well, even if someone else...

you are correct, sir

Hunter is looking bad.
