True that.
O well. When I miss games this season, they’ve always scored double digits. Lets see that trend continue.

apparently mlb.tv can finally carry...
Saturday games, despite the FOX blackout. I can provide pbp if anyone would like it.
I don'y need PBP, but
it’d be cool if you told me if someone looks good or bad. Like horrible swings or how Roy looks.
It seems like I never get to see my boy Oswalt.

Roy got a nice strike call
just barely on the outside of the plate just now for strike one against Duncan. Helped contribute to the strike out.
by entropic soul on Apr 26, 2008 12:27 PM CDT up reply actions
So I guess it's pretty clear...
that Oswalt doesn’t feel comfortable with Towles. Coop had indicated after Oswalt took his first two or three starts with Ausmus that he probably would pitch to Towles after that point. I don’t think it’s happened yet.
Oswalt Is Never Satisfied
with anyone but Ausmus. I remember they tried to give him Chavez, and that didn’t last (despite the fact that Chavez was a good defensive catcher and called a good game), and then Roy REALLY put up a stink about Q.
All well and good, except he’s not gonna be able to throw to Brad next year. . . . .

and Roy is...
repeatedly throwing balls right up against their knees to back them up. He looks great so far.
they showed the replay...
a couple of times, and I don’t think it did. The Cardinals announcers said it was “academy award material.”
or nevermind the hit
I guess it went right behind him…?

He should have punched Wainwright in the face.
For trying to hit him with the ball.
by entropic soul on Apr 26, 2008 12:50 PM CDT up reply actions
I hate that...
the warnings issued for what Wainwright did means that Oswalt has to be more cautious with the inside heat he’s been throwing.
I'm glad Ausmus showed he had enough
of LaRussa’s crap. LaRussa tried the intimidation route in the last series in Houston after the Cards’ lost in the 9th. He has gone back to it again. That brought both teams out and LaRussa was trying to explain the pitch to Ausmus while Brad was held back by Cooper. I don’t think Ausmus was convinced by Tony.
He should have punched him in the face too.
We’ll live with the suspension. :p

Personally...
it seems a bad move by a veteran catcher. He just cut Roy’s strike zone in half.
Phear T.S.'s Crawdaddies...
That probably happens....
with Ausmus doing nothing anyway. The ump likely issues a warning anyway since it was such an obvious retaliation for Oswalt hitting the Cards’ catcher. I was really disappointed tthat the Astros didn’t respond to LaRussa’s crap last time.
JD was talking about that...
he was saying that the Astros could have had a chance to retaliate if Ausmus didn’t do anything. But once the benches cleared and all that, the ump really had no choice.
Phear T.S.'s Crawdaddies...
Really?
I think if Brad just looks at him like “Yeah, okay” then there would not have been a warning at all. By that I mean, not an “official” warning. The ump might have told him to be careful.
Phear T.S.'s Crawdaddies...
Schumaker walks...
Roy is being cautious with the inside… but he’s still pitching there. The pitch to get Ryan, more than a few to Schumaker, and the first pitch to Ankiel. Roy missed over the plate with the next one and Ankiel lines a single to right.
1st and 2nd for Pujols. 1 out.
Phear T.S.'s Crawdaddies...
Duncan single...
1st and 3rd, 1 out.
Glaus up. Roy is leaving the fastball up and he’s getting hammered.
Glaus sacrifice.
3-1.
Phear T.S.'s Crawdaddies...
Bourn and Pence miscommunication...
Pence took the ball right in front of Bourn. Didn’t get anything on the throw. Duncan moved up on the play.
Phear T.S.'s Crawdaddies...
What the heck?
Pence just nearly really screwed that up, and Bourn has shown the better arm this year anyway. UGH.
yep, bad defensive play by pence
Pence did too much of that ball hogging as a CFer, but he has to yield to the CFer when he is playing RF.
Hear hear

The biggest problem...
is that Roy really couldn’t come in to get hitters out. He came in, but not really after he had 2 strikes.
That’s really gonna be a problem. The Cards hitters looked like they were sitting on the outside corner coming out of the dugout.
Phear T.S.'s Crawdaddies...
Biggest problem...
in that inning is he walked a batter he shouldn’t have. Walks, especially with no or 1 out, will kill you.
just to clarify...
don’t walk batters in front of Pujols. It forces the pitcher to have to come over the plate to AP.
That's about halfway up that hill...
right above the 400’ sign. He got all of it.
Phear T.S.'s Crawdaddies...
The classiest!
Don’t you forget it! (Because they won’t let you.)
by entropic soul on Apr 26, 2008 1:27 PM CDT up reply actions
I think its funny...
that Ausmus is public enemy #1 for Cards fans, the way Pujols is for Astros fans.
I mean, only classy fans would pick out a backup catcher on his last legs to hate this much.
Phear T.S.'s Crawdaddies...
Glaus
puts the ball in play for the first time this series, still makes an out.

Just like last night
I feel Cardinals are controlling the game but the Astros are hanging in there waiting for something (or Jason Isringhausen) to happen.

I've seen 2 mistakes by Wainwright...
and Berkman didn’t miss either one. The pitch to Matsui wasn’t that bad of a pitch. The two to Berkman were up and over the plate. Bad place to miss.

Geary
And Pujols bounces into a double play.
And he deserves it for the stupid bullshit he just pulled
by entropic soul on Apr 26, 2008 2:08 PM CDT up reply actions
He swung and knocked the ball straight down, bounced next to the plate...
then the ball bounced forward fair and was an easy out at first (but Ankiel was running and would have taken second)... and then Pujols started limping acting like it hit him in the leg for a foul ball. Ump called it foul.
which replays showed btw
the ball was NOWHERE near his leg
by entropic soul on Apr 26, 2008 2:11 PM CDT up reply actions
He hit the ball right on the plate
or something to that affect and pretended it hit him in the leg so the ball wasn’t in play.

To Pujols – What is your favorite curse word? Brad Lidge.
What is your favorite sound? The sound of a silent stadium and the crunching of my feet as I round the bases.
What profession other than your own would you like to try? Astros closer.

Don't forget LaRue
I’m not even convinced it got his jersey. Can’t blame him for taking the base that was given him, but whoever called for the retaliation is a complete and total dillhole.
75% of the Earth's surface is covered by water. . . the other 25% by Michael Bourn
He was play acting on a fair ball
in front of the plate, in order to get it ruled fair. He hobbled around like it hit his foot, but replay shows “no way.”
No boos for Ausmus...
apparently the fans gave up. Or they forgot.
Or, they realized it was Brad fucking Ausmus and got over themselves.
Phear T.S.'s Crawdaddies...
Strike zone grows by a few feet
for Bourn’s at bat.
That’s a called strike three about a foot off the plate.
Ausmus and Brocail...
having an animated discussion before Duncan’s AB starts.
“Please drill LaRue.” “No!” “Do it!”
Now That You Mention It
They booed Izzy last night, too.
Now, I’m on record as thinking the guy is way overrated, but, still, he’s done the Cards OK and should get a pass . . . at least from the Cards fans

Top 9...
3-3. Matsui, Tejada, Berkman. About as good as you can draw the thing up.
Phear T.S.'s Crawdaddies...
well...
when the umpire has your strike zone extending a foot to either side of the plate, it’s hard to get pulled.
If Game Day Is To Be Believed
Wainwright is pounding Pence down and away.
I do believe our young Hunter is gaining a reputation

Sure
No-one in the St. Louie pen has a yakker like Wainwright’s, no?

Well, even if someone else...
could make the pitches needed to get Pence out, I think LaRussa figured that Wainwright at 120 pitches could do it fine enough, so no need to burn anyone else.
you are correct, sir
Hunter is looking bad.

Hunter swings and misses...
on the same pitch he missed twice before. he seems very overanxious to hack away.
Hunter Pence takes it to 3-2 count
Wainwright kept throwing way outside and low.
Finally struck Hunter Pence out on a low pitch

He might have had a play at the plate; instead the ball goes under his glove.
That was so retarded!
You can’t throw anyone out if you don’t have the ball!!

He must felt
he had to take the risk and pick it up while getting set to throw on the run. A catch and close safe call at home is still a loser.
