2008 - Kyle Kendrick 1-1 2 2 0 0 0 0 7.1 12 11 5 0 8 1 6.14 2.73

From what I've heard, Roy thinks he found a hitch in his step that could be the reason he hasn't been as effective this year as he has been in the past.  We'll see tonight as Roy tries to avoid being 0-4 for the 1st time in his career.  Tonight isn't a make or break night for Roy(meaning, if he does bad tonight, he won't be packing his bags for Round Rock), but it would very good for him and the Astros if he would come out and have a typical Roy-O performance.

I have a little bit of good news.  From listening to Cooper today on the radio, Valverde was working on his pitching today and shouldn't be available for tonight's game.  Well... it sounds like good news to me.  How he's been pitching lately, he may need to work on his pitching some tomorrow as well...

I should be here for tomorrows day game though(swung a day off, yippie!)

Go 'Stros!

by Stros Bro on Apr 16, 2008 6:02 PM CDT reply actions

Bourn steals...

but Loretta fouls it off… I expect a GIDP now.

by TexSkins on Apr 16, 2008 6:11 PM CDT up reply actions

Nope...

just a line out to RF.

1 out, Berkman up.

by TexSkins on Apr 16, 2008 6:12 PM CDT up reply actions

Bourn goes...

pitch out… but he’s there anyway. Apparently not close.

by TexSkins on Apr 16, 2008 6:14 PM CDT up reply actions

I'm not sure if I like it...

with Berkman up. It opens a base. He runs it full the K’s looking on a pitch apparently not close (according to obviously homerific Radio guys.) But do you want an open base with Carlos “Mr. GIDP” Lee coming up? I dunno.

Lee up, 2 down.

by TexSkins on Apr 16, 2008 6:17 PM CDT up reply actions

Works it full...

as the crowd groans. They liked it, radio guys liked the 1-2 pitch better, but works it full nonetheless.

Rips one down the line in left, off the wall, Bourn scores easily.

1-0.

Hmm… sounds familiar. Think Roy is thinking CG today?

by TexSkins on Apr 16, 2008 6:20 PM CDT up reply actions

Already...

it seems like a very weird strike zone. Both the Philly fans I can hear and the radio guys seem to agree… so you know it’s bad.

by TexSkins on Apr 16, 2008 6:22 PM CDT up reply actions

Miggy K's looking...

but the Astros get 1.

Here comes Roy. Which Roy it’ll be is the real question.

by TexSkins on Apr 16, 2008 6:22 PM CDT up reply actions

Bourn

Appears to have pulled something when running to 1st. He was definitely showing signs of pain at 1st. The fact that he stole 2nd amazes me.. I’m actually really surprised nobody came out to see how he was doing. He was limping around 1st base and then after stealing 2nd, he was limping around there to. Kind of scarey

Go 'Stros!

by Stros Bro on Apr 16, 2008 6:29 PM CDT up reply actions

Werth, Feliz, Utley...

and Kendrick is already at 27 pitches.

by TexSkins on Apr 16, 2008 6:23 PM CDT reply actions

Werth...

takes a strike, then a ball (91 mph fastball) before lining a single to center.

Feliz up… switches spots in the order with Ruiz.

Grounds to 3rd on the first pitch… Blum looks to 2nd before getting an out at 1st.

Utley up. 1 out, runner on 2nd.

by TexSkins on Apr 16, 2008 6:26 PM CDT up reply actions

Utley...

gets a fastball (92 mph)... not great velocity.

Flies one to left… Bourn gets it in left center… runner to 3rd.

by TexSkins on Apr 16, 2008 6:27 PM CDT up reply actions

The slow starting Ryan Howard is up...

takes strike 1, then ball 1, then a curve low for ball 2… Big swing and miss for strike 2.

Lines one to center for a single.

1-1.

by TexSkins on Apr 16, 2008 6:30 PM CDT up reply actions

Tejada gets one deep in the hole...

but his throw is off and Howard is safe at second.

by TexSkins on Apr 16, 2008 6:31 PM CDT up reply actions

Jenkins breaks his bat...

grounds out to 2nd.

End 1, 1-1. Oswalt at 19 pitches.

by TexSkins on Apr 16, 2008 6:32 PM CDT up reply actions

I don't think

that velocity’s right man. My20 is showing 94 and 95 mph and it looks good.

As for the curveball…

Bourn to Run!

by Jordan Sams on Apr 16, 2008 6:29 PM CDT reply actions

All I got is the radio guy's version...

maybe the ballpark’s velocity is off…

It seemed off for both starters yesterday.

by TexSkins on Apr 16, 2008 6:30 PM CDT up reply actions

I still don't like

the way Roy looks =/

Bourn to Run!

by Jordan Sams on Apr 16, 2008 6:33 PM CDT reply actions

Don't tell me that...

it’s supposed to be butterflies and roses. Especially when he’s pitching for one of my fantasy teams.

by TexSkins on Apr 16, 2008 6:34 PM CDT up reply actions

Blum, Pence, Ausmus...

and I heard Kaz was supposed to be activated on Friday… not sure though.

Blum flies out to center.

by TexSkins on Apr 16, 2008 6:35 PM CDT reply actions

Ausmus is at .143...

must’ve been hot early on… Radio guys talking about how Ausmus is now sure he got him last night. Didn’t make a stink at the time because he wasn’t sure.

The power of replay.

Grounds out to 3rd. Quick top half.

1-1.

by TexSkins on Apr 16, 2008 6:37 PM CDT up reply actions

Bourn stole a base.

8 SB for Bourn!!

(It’s late, I know.. just got here.) :p

by entropic soul on Apr 16, 2008 6:40 PM CDT reply actions

Ruiz, Bruntlett, Kendrick...

Kendrick at 34 through 2… He had a very easy inning.

Oswalt seems to be working super quick. Full count to Ruiz… grounds out to Berkman who tosses to Roy.

1 out.

by TexSkins on Apr 16, 2008 6:41 PM CDT reply actions

Kendrick K's...

34 pitches for Roy.

Oswalt, Bourn, Loretta due up.

by TexSkins on Apr 16, 2008 6:45 PM CDT up reply actions

Gun showing 91-94 on the fastball

for Roy… Either the gun is off, or Roy’s lost some speed.. I’m used to seeing 94-96 on the fastball.

Go 'Stros!

by Stros Bro on Apr 16, 2008 6:43 PM CDT reply actions

Are you watching on my20?

Because the Radio guys make it seem a lot slower.

by TexSkins on Apr 16, 2008 6:44 PM CDT up reply actions

Oswalt up...

Jenkins and Werth cheating in…

Takes 2 strikes… Chops one to 3rd.

1 out.

Bourn up.

Does he still look gimpy?

by TexSkins on Apr 16, 2008 6:47 PM CDT reply actions

Grounds out to Utley...

2 quick outs again. Kendrick and Roy are getting the ball and are already set.

Loretta up.

by TexSkins on Apr 16, 2008 6:48 PM CDT up reply actions

Loretta works it 2-2...

not sure he’s even swung yet.

Check swing for a full count.

Takes ball 4.

by TexSkins on Apr 16, 2008 6:50 PM CDT up reply actions

Berkman up...

passed Jimmy Wynn last night on the all-time hits list with 1,292 hits. That’s a lot.

by TexSkins on Apr 16, 2008 6:51 PM CDT up reply actions

Kendrick pounding the zone...

Radio guys commenting on how he’s working in and out well.

Infield single to 3rd. They made it sound like a swinging bunt.

1st and 2nd with Lee up.

by TexSkins on Apr 16, 2008 6:52 PM CDT up reply actions

Werth lined out to 3rd...

then Feliz grounds out to the pitcher.

Quick 2 outs.

by TexSkins on Apr 16, 2008 6:57 PM CDT up reply actions

Utley up...

he doubles.

Howard up. 2 out.

by TexSkins on Apr 16, 2008 7:00 PM CDT up reply actions

Throwing some curves...

doesn’t get a call and goes to 3-1. Walks him. Oswalt wanted the 2-1 call. Apparently a very good curveball.

Burrell up.

by TexSkins on Apr 16, 2008 7:02 PM CDT up reply actions

Burrell K's...

on another curveball.

Oswalt at 54 pitches.

by TexSkins on Apr 16, 2008 7:04 PM CDT up reply actions

Wow

Weird call. That pitch was right down the middle lol.

Bourn to Run!

by Jordan Sams on Apr 16, 2008 7:02 PM CDT reply actions

Yep

That last curveball Roy threw, Burrell had a huge grin on his face.. he knew it was good after he struck out.

Go 'Stros!

by Stros Bro on Apr 16, 2008 7:04 PM CDT up reply actions

3 pitches...

2 outs. Blum grounds to Utley.

by TexSkins on Apr 16, 2008 7:06 PM CDT up reply actions

Pence up...

Radio guys raving about how Kendrick looks likes he’s on tonight.

Pence swings and misses on… you guessed it, slider, low and away. Takes a ball out there, then swings and misses on yet another slider… low and away.

And he K’s on a slider low and away. Nice. Looking at Gameday, not a single one of the pitches was within 6 inches of the zone.

Radio guys called it: “Hunter is a mess.”

by TexSkins on Apr 16, 2008 7:09 PM CDT up reply actions

Someone should tell him..

to only swing at balls his bat can reach. :p

by entropic soul on Apr 16, 2008 7:09 PM CDT up reply actions

Middle of the 4th...

Kendrick at 58 pitches.

Jenkins, Ruiz, Bruntlett due up.

by TexSkins on Apr 16, 2008 7:09 PM CDT reply actions

3-0 to Ruiz...

Gameday has the last one at 89. Topped out at 90 for that at bat.

Ruiz walks on 5 pitches.

by TexSkins on Apr 16, 2008 7:12 PM CDT up reply actions

Bruntlett pops the first pitch to Blum...

2 out, Kendrick up. Radio guys raving about how Blum has looked at 3rd. Sounds like they just don’t like Wiggy.

Kendrick strikes out. End 4, 1-1.

by TexSkins on Apr 16, 2008 7:14 PM CDT up reply actions

Ausmus, Roy, Bourn...

can’t we just save time and say 2 outs, Bourn up?

by TexSkins on Apr 16, 2008 7:15 PM CDT reply actions

Ausmus up...

Roy at 66 pitches. Only 3 K’s… 2 of which are Kendrick. 2 walks, 4 hits. Eh. Hasn’t really been hit too hard.

by TexSkins on Apr 16, 2008 7:16 PM CDT up reply actions

1-2...

Ausmus bounces one foul. That’s it, Ausmus. Run up the pitch count.

Grounds out to Feliz. Apparently 6 inches too close. I doubt it.

Roy up. Takes 2 strikes. Then a ball outside. K’s on the curve.

Like I said, 2 outs… Bourn up.

by TexSkins on Apr 16, 2008 7:19 PM CDT up reply actions

Shows bunt...

Feliz in, takes a strike.

Then hits a homer off the foul pole. Anyone know if there’s chicken involved?

Entropic… you got Bourn?

by TexSkins on Apr 16, 2008 7:20 PM CDT up reply actions

Loretta up...

the radio guys say Kendrick’s got “Maddux like movement.” Again, doubt it.

by TexSkins on Apr 16, 2008 7:21 PM CDT up reply actions

Loretta fouling a few off...

Radio guys talking about how he’s a nice fit in the 2 spot.

Lines one off Kendrick. The pitcher is getting punished, but he gets the out.

2-1 Stros. Kendrick at 75 pitches.

by TexSkins on Apr 16, 2008 7:23 PM CDT up reply actions

Bourn goes yard

now THAT was a shot.. way up the foul pole… I didn’t think he had that kind of power.

Go 'Stros!

by Stros Bro on Apr 16, 2008 7:20 PM CDT reply actions

RF foul pole is 330'

I’m saying Bourn’s home run was a good 370’.. at least

Go 'Stros!

by Stros Bro on Apr 16, 2008 7:22 PM CDT up reply actions

Would have gone foul

if it didn’t hit the pole, though, right?

by entropic soul on Apr 16, 2008 7:23 PM CDT up reply actions

Umm...

it would have been close.. it actually hit the screen and didn’t really look to be slicing too much.

Go 'Stros!

by Stros Bro on Apr 16, 2008 7:24 PM CDT up reply actions

hell

who knows.. too hard to judge distance from TV.. could be 400 all I know..

Go 'Stros!

by Stros Bro on Apr 16, 2008 7:23 PM CDT up reply actions

Haha...

I’m waiting to hear. I don’t see where Gameday measures homers. Maybe they do and I’m dumb.

by TexSkins on Apr 16, 2008 7:25 PM CDT up reply actions

It's only 2-1

Needs to be at least 6-1 for the bullpen to hold the lead.

by entropic soul on Apr 16, 2008 7:25 PM CDT reply actions

no doubt

I am here at work and was afraid last night during the game

by Triple347 on Apr 16, 2008 7:27 PM CDT up reply actions

Werth, Feliz, Utley...

nice play from Miggy to get Werth.

1 out.

Feliz flies out to Bourn.

by TexSkins on Apr 16, 2008 7:26 PM CDT reply actions

Utley up...

Update on Kaz: 1-3 yesterday, 0-1 so far today. Loretta gets Utley.

Roy’s at 76 pitches through 5.

2-1 Stros.

by TexSkins on Apr 16, 2008 7:28 PM CDT up reply actions

Berkman flies out to center...

Cubs up 4-0 after 1. Soriano isn’t missed.

Apparently Backe was giving Lee’s bat some love. Like rubbing it love. Lovin’ it strong.

So… quickly 0-2. No, 1-1. Radio guys are liars. Now 1-2. Outside for 2-2. No swings yet. Saving it up… for a slow roller to Romero in foul territory. Radio guys commenting that the foul girl has a backup waiting.

Lee grounds out to short. Good job Backe.

by TexSkins on Apr 16, 2008 7:33 PM CDT up reply actions

Miggy up...

and grounds out to 2nd quickly. Not exactly playing add on.

Mid 6, 2-1 Stros. Kendrick at 86 pitches.

by TexSkins on Apr 16, 2008 7:34 PM CDT up reply actions

And I lost the radio feed...

all I hear is buzzing.

You get what you pay for I suppose…

by TexSkins on Apr 16, 2008 7:35 PM CDT reply actions

Yep...

dead. No more PBP for me.

by TexSkins on Apr 16, 2008 7:42 PM CDT up reply actions

I'm sure it will be

OUT, OUT, OUT, OUT, OUT, OUT, PHILLIES 3 RUN HOMER, ASTROS LOSE.

by entropic soul on Apr 16, 2008 7:44 PM CDT up reply actions

Probably...

Unless Valverde really isn’t available.

by TexSkins on Apr 16, 2008 7:45 PM CDT up reply actions

Kendrick at 96 pitches through 7...

and is due up 2nd. I’m guessing he’s done.

by TexSkins on Apr 16, 2008 7:46 PM CDT reply actions

84 pitches...

yeah, I think so. He’s pitched pretty well against a tough lineup. Only gave up the run in the first. I’d take 7 from Roy.

by TexSkins on Apr 16, 2008 7:48 PM CDT up reply actions

Snelling on for Kendrick...

but no HR this time.

2 outs.

Kendrick’s done. 7 IP, 4 hits, 2 ERs, 1 walk, 5 K’s… strong outing.

by TexSkins on Apr 16, 2008 7:50 PM CDT up reply actions

Werth K's...

and Oswalt’s due up 1st. I’d say he’s done.

92 pitches, 7 IP, 5 hits, 1 ER, 2 BBs, 4 K’s… season ERA lowered all the way down to 6.65. I’ll take it.

by TexSkins on Apr 16, 2008 7:52 PM CDT up reply actions

He's out.

Coop putting the W in the hands of the bullpen now. How often has that not worked out?

by entropic soul on Apr 16, 2008 7:53 PM CDT up reply actions

That was a nice inning from Roy

according to Gameday anyway. I think I keep him in for another. Hard to make that call without actually seeing him, though.

by entropic soul on Apr 16, 2008 7:51 PM CDT reply actions

Romero on for Kendrick...

and Cruz for Roy… nice outing. Not having seen him… but it sounded nice. Gameday made it seem like lower velocity but more command than he’s had this year.

Maybe just a few bad games? Dunno.

by TexSkins on Apr 16, 2008 7:54 PM CDT reply actions

I thought he had an issue with his finger...

guess not. Good luck, kid.

Feliz, Utley, Howard.

Earn your money.

by TexSkins on Apr 16, 2008 8:05 PM CDT up reply actions

K's Feliz on 3 straight...

now the fun part. Lefty on lefty for Utley… then the same for Howard.

by TexSkins on Apr 16, 2008 8:06 PM CDT up reply actions

Both of his strike 1's have been...

down the pipe, belt high. Living on the edge.

K’s Utley on 3 straight. Go, kid, go.

by TexSkins on Apr 16, 2008 8:08 PM CDT up reply actions

First ball is pitch 8...

after strike 1 to Howard on the black, outside at the knees.

Ball 2 is outside. Don’t get shy now, kid.

by TexSkins on Apr 16, 2008 8:09 PM CDT up reply actions

Ball 3 just misses...

Then runs it full… Everything away to Howard.

Then strike on the inside corner. Wow.

Double W!

wooooooooooo i love this dude so far.

Erstad in LF

I Was Seeing

where Richard Justice thinks that Coop is required to use Carlos for 1400+ innings this year.

Coz he makes 100 million don’t you know. . . .

Not that I blame anything on Carlos Lee, but removing a player like Lee for defense is almost SOP . . . even among managers who refuse to jilt their closer.

Talk about going out of your way to spin for the manager. . . . .

I'll end up liking Tejada. . . . just give me some time
