Nixing a Rumor?: Wade looking to give Tejada more rest

Yesterday, HLP jumped on a juicy Tim Dierkes non-rumor rumor about Miguel Tejada's potential fit with the Dodgers.

Today, in her GM Meeting preview, Footer makes it clear that Ed Wade is seeking someone to lighten the load for Tejada at SS, which to me signals the lack of desire/thought towards attempting to off-load Tejada's slumping production and contract.

I guess we just have to dream big about some cheap production from Clack's excellent Rule V draft preview.

Now Dierkes is passing on a non-rumor rumor that Wigginton might be a fit with the Dodgers if they don’t land either Furcal or Casey Blake on the FA market.

I just saw that

I was going to dignify it with a post, but I figured the non-rumor rumor stuff would just get out of hand — especially since we have no idea what our front office’s strategy for next year really is.

A good friend of mine used to say, "This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

read it

just read it…it seems like on this mlbtraderumors (which i do love)

that they just look at team needs and then other teams that are shopping certain players (or gm’s saying something about whatever) and they mix and match randomn names to teams…i bet u wiggy will be linked to the white sox soon…derek lowe to houston?valverde to the mets? i mean u never know

This isn't exactly encouraging....

(from Footer’s article): “The Astros hoped to go no higher than $100 million, but the declining economy and sinking sponsorship and season-ticket sales may push the budget below that mark.”

On Tejada, I do think that giving Tejada more days off is worth a try. It might spark a rebound in his performance…at least you can always hope.

Hmm, I wonder why season ticket sales are down...

Maybe it’s because everyone in Houston understands that the Stros got lucky last year and that they will almost certainly suck if Drayton is unwilling to spend any money.
