Bobby Crosby on Waivers!!!!

The Oakland A's put Bobby Crosby on waivers. He would be a great fit. Let him work out his issues and he would be a great replacement for Tejada when he becomes a free agent at the end of 09!! Sources told FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal that the A's have placed Bobby Crosby on outright waivers. It probably won't amount to much. If Crosby is on waivers, then anyone can take his current contract, which has one year and $5.25 million left on it. However, it's doubtful that anyone will want him at that price. If he clears waivers, then he'd still be A's property and would continue to top the team's depth chart at shortstop.

The Astros have Aaron Boone.

Why would they want Crosby? :)

Seriously.

Yeah, my previous post was sarcastic. But in seriousness, my biggest problem with the Boone signing isn’t that he is bad (which he probably will be), but rather that the Astros should have waited longer in the season to fill the extra infield roles. Given that the Astros are obviously feeding off the bottom of the bargain bin, they could have waited and taken the chance that better players can’t find a market, remain unsigned, and become willing to take a deeply discounted price. The Crosby waiver may or may not turn out to be an example. I noticed that the Padres would like to sign Eckstein, Grudzelanek, or Vizquel, but can’t afford any of them at their current asking price. So the Padres say they will wait and see if one of those guys remains unsigned and becomes affordable. The Astros were in a similar situation. If they had waited, the worst thing that happens is they miss out on Aaron Boone. (so what.)

Crosby cleared waivers and he will return to the A's this spring.

Apparently this was just a maneuver to allow the A’s to keep Crosby without using a 40 man roster spot.
