Around SBN: Jeremy Lin's Game-Winner Was Incredible, Worth Remembering

The link is to MLBTradeRumors which has the whole history of the revelation that Baldelli's diagnosis last season was wrong. Apparently his condition is highly treatable, which I guess means less of an impact on his game. Please let him be our next signing...please baseball gods...it's all I want for Christmas.

i was thinking him last year

then i heard that news and said we dont need him….now its treatable i think they should jsut somehow get rid of michaels and sign baldelli…he is the OF WE NEED!

And then?

So, he doesn’t displace Lee or Pence (unless traded)…so that would mean giving up on Bourn, right? What about the left side of the infield?

Baldelli’s played a pretty mean CF before…better Range Factor than Michael Bourn. Their Revised Zone Ratings are comparable.

The only questions for me, really, are how much does he cost, can he handle CF regularly, and how many crowbars do we need to make Ed Wade let go of Bourn?

RE: The Crowbars

I don’t know, but I think we should find out

A good friend of mine used to say, "This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

Houston does have some world-class medical facilities…

Given his medical condition...

It seems to me that Baldelli would be ideal as a platoon candidate with Bourn. However, I suspect that the cost would be a problem, particularly after Wade has already committed some dollars to a reserve outfielder.

He will probably sign with Boston!! He is from Rhode Island and has been a Red Sox fan all of his life.

it'd be nice...

but 0.0001% chance of this happening. He’ll end up with the Red Sox or Reds, imo. Red sox have obvious interest, Reds is just pure speculation on my part (they did pretty good with the other Tampa outcast)

i think that ship has sailed

had we not signed Michaels, he might have been an option that made sense, but not anymore. they seem pretty set on giving Bourn a second shot, and tossing him aside for a guy that’s played a combined 155 games over the last four years would be beyond foolish. don’t get me wrong, i’ve liked Baldelli for a while, but it’s just not gonna happen.

we just signed Aaron Boone.
