Well, the Astros certainly fit the description of a team looking for an inexpensive utility infielder.
But I think we both know that the Chris-Burke-as-an-Astro ship has sailed. I’ll never forget The Chris Burke Game, but there may be too much baggage in Houston for him to come back. I do hope he finds some success somewhere though. Not only did it seem like we broke him, but even after signing Jason Castro, Chris Burke still has the distinction of receiving the largest draft signing bonus from the Houston Astros…and I kind of wonder if McLane being unwilling to go over slot money is because of Chris Burke’s record in an Astros uniform.
Anyway, the kind of utility man we need has to be able to play shortstop/3B, and I think Burke didn’t quite have the throwing arm to play SS, so it’s probably a moot point.
