SBN Awards: NL Cy Young
Today's release is one that I am the most excited to see come from the BWAA.
| National League | 1st | 2nd | 3rd | Points |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tim Lincecum | 14 | 2 | 1 | 77 |
| Johan Santana | 1 | 8 | 3 | 32 |
| Brandon Webb | - | 4 | 7 | 19 |
| CC Sabathia | 3 | - | 1 | 16 |
| Cole Hamels | - | 1 | 2 | 5 |
| Roy Oswalt | - | 1 | - | 3 |
| Ryan Dempster | - | - | 2 | 2 |
| Dan Haren | - | - | 1 | 1 |
| Edinson Volquez | - | - | 1 | 1 |
I think Lincecum was the hands down Cy Young and could even be up there in terms of MVP discussion -- he's that good. It's a little ridiculous that Sabathia some how landed three first place votes, but I guess we can blame that on BrewCrewBall, but you never know. I'm kind of sad that Roy only landed a second place vote, but that's what you get for performing dismally for half a season.

Hmmm
No one had anything to say about the Cy Young ballot? I’m shocked.

A good friend of mine used to say, "This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

who chose Lincecum in our fantasy league?
and for a bonus point, who is going to keep him for the foreseeable future?

I'm still the commish of the league
I could take him off your roster and put him on mine in a heartbeat.

Well kudos to you guys
I’m bitter because Evan finished ahead of me on the strength of Lincecum’s golden arm. As for me, I got screwed by Gallardo tearing his ACL…along with Tulo tearing his quad and breaking a bat in his hand, Jeff Keppinger then breaking his knee cap, Clint Barmes breaking whatever he broke, and then Jerry Hairston Jr. doing whatever he did to end up on the DL. Pretty much any player I touched broke. It was a depressing year — especially in a league that capped its move at 35.
But next year…I will dominate.

I remember that, earlier in the season, a friend of mine
(a Mets fan) told me that Roy was in the “twilight of his career.” I responded that he was only in the twilight of his career in the same sense that Clemens was after he left Boston. Not to jinx the Wizard or anything, but I think the second half of the season showed that the first half was a fluke. Hopefully, Roy will be nails next year. The dude deserves a Cy Young.
But there’s not much to say about this year’s Cy Young. Lincecum deserves it, though one can make a case for both Santana and Webb. Nobody else really qualifies.
The arguments, I think, will come when they announce the MVP. That’s gonna be a load of bull.
