I think

Roy needs to push Ed Wade and Drayton McLane to consider Ben Sheets before he goes this route.

A good friend of mine used to say, "This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

yeah, it won’t mean a thing if Wade doesn’t make an offer

My predictions

If the Astros sign Sheets, at least one major media outlet nominates it for the worst deal of the offseason.

If he lands with the Cubs/Mets/Yankees, the move will be called a smart gamble.

Prediction:

HOU either trades for Peavy or signs Sheets

Give Oswalt credit.

The guy is trying to be pro-active in improving the team. He knows the Astros need another top line pitcher in the rotation. He pushed for Peavy with the front office. That didn’t seem to work. And now he is pushing for Sheets. I don’t know if it has any effect on the Astros front office or not. But I hope Roy tries to talk with Drayton personally. That probably is the person who needs persuading, and I think McLane listens to Oswalt sometimes.
