Mark Prior to the Astros?
Heard this rumor at work and wanted to see what everyone thought? I think it would be great if he is healthy and we have already signed Wolf. The starting 5 would be Oswalt, Wolf, Wandy, Moehler and Prior. Then maybe we could go after Jeremy Affeldt to add to the bullpen. And maybe Rocco Baldelli to shore up CF. These are the moves Uncle Drayton will sign off on I dont think we will be able to get Sheets. Anyway tell me what you think.

Nice dog. Second: Congrats on the adoption.
I get the feeling Rocco will be back in Tampa, but I’d love for him to come here. We need someone to shore up CF.
Prior will be a huge risk and I’m not sure how much he wants to stay on the West Coast again this year. I know that last year he signed with the Pads for that reason, but we were the highest bidder. I think it’d be worth the $1.5 million in the base contract just for the chance for him to be good again, because we’ll need all the pitching we can get.
The Crawfishboxes
A good friend of mine used to say, "This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.
Everything I have read indicates that Prior wants to return to the Padres.
No way would I rely upon Prior to pitch in the rotation. He hasn’t been able to pitch in 3 years. Why would anyone want to count on him to hold a rotation spot down? Maybe he is worth some low level incentive based contract. But I don’t think you can construct a rotation around him. If he is signed, and happens to become a productive pitcher, then it would be like finding money on the ground.
That why I have him penciled in as the 5th starter. It is a low risk deal. san deigo is aready talking about offering him a minor league deal. If we offer somthing similar to what he got last year was 1 million in base with incentives if he meets them it moves up to 4 million. It is a win if he makes it back or you can let the 1 million walk.
