Meh, they didn't choke
Choking is when you’re up 27-10 with 5 minutes to play and you find a way to lose.
The Cubs only had a lead in a game once, after Mark DeRosa’s homer in game 1, after that it was the Dodgers leading the way.
The Cubs didn’t choke, they got their asses handed to them.

They did
They were up .602 to .519 in the regular season, and were favored all year not only in this series, but to win the NL pennant. They never won a playoff game. They choked.

But that's my point
a smackdown, to me, isn’t really choking. Choking is when you have victory within your grasp, but you blow it. The Rockets blowing massive leads to the Suns. The Oilers giving up the biggest comeback in NFL history. Lidge’s NLCS Pujols homer. THAT’S choking – you’ve been the better team the whole game, but you screw up at the last minute and lose it all.
Now, one could argue (as Xan does) that they choked because of their lead in the regular season. But that lead is meaningless in the postseason. And just as I wouldn’t call the Astros’ seasons where they got swept out of the NLDS choke jobs, I wouldn’t call this one a choke job, either.
This was the Dodgers just flat-out kicking ass. Calling it a Cubs choke-job doesn’t do Manny and Co. justice.

perhaps
they choked in the sense that they were the favorite to make it to the world series out of the nl. the team with the best record lost to the team with the worst record.
