“With both sides spending upward of $30 million each, the measure has become the most costly ballot measure ever dealing with a social issue”

Aren’t all political issues social issues? The government (and its laws) is a part of society, after all.

$15,000

Chunk change.

A good friend of mine used to say, "This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

Austin

I didn’t know he lived in Austin.

You think Wade could coax him back to Houston for a one year contract?

Do we want that?

.280/.325/.418

Didn't he say

that he was probably going to retire after 2008?

That's surprising.

Who would have guessed that Matsui was a better hitter than Kent this season?

by clack on Oct 31, 2008 12:08 AM CDT up reply actions

Yea

but can Matsui do it over a full season?

Go 'Stros!

I mean

Whether he can or can’t, we won’t have to spend an additional $5 million+ on him like we would Kent.

surprisingly, Matsui and Kent had close to the same number of plate appearances...

last year. Of course, a 45 year old is going to break down some, which explains Kent’s loss of playing time. Since Matsui is under contract, you just hope for the best in terms of getting playing time out of him. The glass half full view is that Matsui had a very good offensive season….really better than his prior year with the Rockies. A lot of people believed he couldn’t repeat those kind of stats outside of Coors.
