Around SBN: 2012 Budweiser Shootout Entry List Released

Game Hero, 19 - 19

Carlos Lee
  • 4 for 4, 2 homers
  • Walk, 4 runs scored, 2 RBI
  • Ties JJ Hardy for NL lead in RBI
  • Ties Craig Biggio for Astros lead in runs scored
  • Retakes that coveted season lead in Game Heros earned

The only thing that's scary is that Carlos Lee had to go 4 for 4 with a walk and a pair of homers for us to win it. I'm all over Lee, and can't imagine how ANY free agent signing, anywhere could possibly be making a bigger impact than El Caballo's is, but the guy needs a little support, huh?

In case you were wondering the last guy to lead the Astros in both runs scored and RBI, why, it was Lance Berkman, last year.

I ALMOST
don't agree with you tonight.  I think it should go to Pence.  I don't think anybody expected him to tie it like he did.  Anyone could have hit the walk-off homerun.  Only Pence could have tied the game and he did.  Nonetheless walking and hitting an RBI double earlier in the game.  What Lee did was impressive... but expected.  What Pence did was equally as impressive and not expected.

I'm ok with Carlos for GH
but I'd give Pence an Honorable Mention. (Maybe we should do an honorable mention thing :)

if it had been anybody else but Lee
hitting the GW HR, i think Pence would still get the nod, but you can't ignore that it was Lee that came around to score from first on Pence's double and Lee that was sitting on first, having singled to give Pence the chance to tie it with one swing, when Pence homered.  add the previous bomb to the walk-off and you just can't NOT give it to Caballo.

what an apropriate nickname.  that guy's been all the clutch we've come to expect from Berkman.  if we can get Lance REALLY clicking like he usually is, with the added juice of Scott, Pence, and Lamb heating up, this could be a truly scary middle of the order.

Pence saved the game
Lee claimed the win.  I'm good with either as the hero.

Good Come-from-behind win
Carlos Lee was just so good with Pence chipping in as well. Wish Lance could've done something in the game and maybe then the game wouldn't have been so close. Back to .500!

Go and get the win tomorrow!

Go Astros!
