Around SBN: Can Tebow Say No To Anything?

Now it can be told

Texas Monthly magazine runs an annual Bum Steer Awards issue - dubious achievement awards for Texas newsmakers. I'm a contributor to that article every year. Mostly I write the jokes, but I also suggest items for inclusion. This year I submitted an item completely sourced from Crawfish Boxes. Search fails to find the original post or comment, but right after Clemens shut it down in the playoffs due to injury, someone posted something brilliant about him playing in a charity golf tournament in Houston the following weekend. It's on page 111 of TM, which if it isn't already out, should be soon. So, thanks for whoever wrote the post, and here's to the best online community an Astrolholic could have.

Love Texas Monthly
I'm a long-time subscriber.

I read it as thoroughly as time permits every month. (December issue was a little disappointing  - work on it).

Best story of the year was a long piece on a writer who visited his buddy, a surgeon, in Iraq. Everybody - I mean everybody --should read that piece.

The Bum Steers issue is the January issue.

P.S. Is it too late
to include Drayton McLane's statement he was surprised the Mitchell Report mentioned Miguel Tejada?

Yeah, December is the dead zone for Bum Steers
Too late for this year's issue, and ineligible for next year's issue.

And I agree with you that John Spong's piece on Iraq was the best piece they've run all year.

Oh, and the other Astro-related Bum Steer this year was for the guy who proposed to his girlfriend on the MMPUS scoreboard, only to have him dump her popcorn all over his head in front of the entire stadium. Headline: For Once An Astro Wasn't the Biggest Loser in the Park

Wait'll next year. Or maybe the year after that or the year after that.

Announcers had a field day with it.

i thought i heard that
that was staged?  maybe that was just speculation.

my girlfriend always tells me how pissed she would be if i pulled a stunt like that, so who knows, maybe not.
