Around SBN: Has Kentucky Improved Since the Non-Conference Season?

Roger doesn't believe

I don't know how cynical people are around here towards our departed hometown hero that went to pitch one last (until next year) season for the bombers, but apparently he thinks his pin-striped comrades are going to bomb in the playoffs, cause he's got plans for next week.

Scroll down to Saturday and Sunday, where apparently he's confirmed as a celebrity in the pro-am tournament here in Houston.

Star-divide

Even if they ARE bounced in the first round, wouldn't you think it's bad form to be playing in a celebrity golf tournament just a few days later?

I didn't take it the same way....
Since he is allowed to leave the team when he isn't pitching, I don't see how scheduling something for a Saturday morning automatically means he is planning on the Yankees being out of the playoffs.  For better or worse, isn't his normal practice to work these kinds of events around his pitching schedule?  (If I recall, after Clemens signed with the Yankees, Garner mentioned that he was surprised on a Saturday game day when he saw Clemens on television playing in a golf tournament in California.)

is this sarcasm?
i'm forced to assume that he wouldn't actually honor the commitment if the Yankees made it to the ALCS.  even if he weren't pitching, do you think he'd leave the team to go play in a golf tournment?  maybe i underestimate the guy.  i thought just agreeing to participate in an early October event was a bit disrespectful, even if he did so before he signed with the Yankees.

and he also vehemently denied that he ever participated in a golf tournement while the Astros were playing.  he made a point to finger waggle at Garner and say that he only ever took off for family reasons, for what it's worth.

either way, not the actions of a model teammate.

No sarcasm intended...
I just meant that if Clemens can be granted exceptions  to leave for special reasons during the regular season, I don't see why you would change up the practice during playoffs.  (I may be wrong, but I don't think he was with the Astros for every single playoff game in 04 and 05.)  For all I know, he may intend to appear for the golf charity in the morning, and take his personal jet to the playoff game in the evening...which doesn't sound disrespectful to me.  Or perhaps he just waits to see if the Yankees are actually scheduled for that day before he bows outs, like you suggest.

I guess it doesn't bother me much.
